FAQs

Q. What do you mean by patient-first philosophy?

A. We place an emphasis on quality patient care above all else. We use well-researched methods and will not cut corners when it comes to patient comfort and pain management.

Q. Will you see other pets, such as turtles or birds?

A. We provide veterinary care for cats, dogs, ferrets, rabbits, and small, pocket pets such as hamsters, guinea pigs and gerbils.

Q. Do you board animals?

A. No. We provide overnight accommodations for pets in our care, but we do not offer a boarding service. However, we are familiar with some excellent boarders in our area, and would be happy to recommend one to you.

Q. Where are you located and how do I get to you?

A. We are located in Stillwater’s Liberty Village at 135 New England Place. Learn more here.

Q. I’m interested in exploring a holistic approach to care for my pet. Do you offer this sort of care?

A. We offer the best of both worlds. In addition to traditional veterinary medicine, we also offer veterinary acupuncture and chiropractic as well as Chinese herbal medicine.

Q. I would like to submit my pet’s picture for the Pet Parade. How do I go about this?

A. We would love to include your pet in our Pet Parade! Simply email a web-sized photo (up to 1MB in size) to questions@rivertownanimalhospital.com. Be sure to include your pet’s name!

Q. My child is interested in your Mini Vet School. How do I sign up?

A. Thank you for your interest. You can register your child by calling our office at 651.430.2229. Learn more about our next Mini Vet School here.

Q. Do I need an appointment to see a veterinarian at Rivertown Animal Hospital?

A. Scheduling an appointment enables us to serve you and your pet more efficiently. However we are staffed for walk-in visits, and are always here to serve you in any emergency situation. (For after-hours emergencies, call 651.501.3766.)

Q. My pet may have ingested a poisonous substance. What should I do?

A. Call us immediately! If you witnessed your pet consuming toxic material, collect any remaining material or packaging and bring it with you to our office.

Q. Can I feed my dog or cat aspirin?

A. We don’t recommend human pain relievers for animals. They metabolize these products differently than humans do, and there may be dangerous consequences. It is best to have your pet examined and an appropriate medication prescribed by your veterinarian.
