Surgical Care

We provide a full range of surgical services for small animals in a state-of-the-art facility. Whether your pet needs a spay or neuter or a more complicated surgery, our doctors have the training and surgical experience to provide the best of care for your pet.

As pet owners, we often feel anxiety when our pets need surgery. We want to be sure that our pets are in a safe environment where they will be treated with compassion and expertise. How do I know if my pet is getting the best care? Will my pet be safe? These are good questions to ask. Often people search for a veterinary hospital based on lowest cost. If that is your criteria, you may be neglecting to offer your pet the safest surgical procedure and run a higher risk of complications.

At Rivertown we have looked at these risks and have put into place procedures that are consistent with the highest standards of the profession. Corners should not be cut when it comes to safe anesthesia and surgery.

Anesthesia

Your pet’s safety is our top priority. Anesthesia is usually a pet owner’s primary concern when considering surgery for their pet. It is our goal to minimize the risks of anesthesia and provide the comfort of knowing that your pet will receive these very beneficial surgical procedures in a safe environment.Pet during surgery We have developed specific anesthesia protocols as well as invested in important medical equipment to help ensure the safety of our anesthetic procedures.

Pain and Comfort Management

Pain prevention is essential to a positive outcome for our patients. Pain is created through many pathways in our bodies. By practicing multimodal pain management we are able to minimize the discomfort experienced by our patients. This includes pain prevention before, during and following any surgical procedure. Reducing the pain experienced by our patients will also help speed their recovery.

Surgical Services

We work closely with board-certified surgical specialists who provide their surgical expertise for more complex soft tissue and orthopedic procedures. We are able to offer our patients these surgical services within our hospital. These surgeries include, but are not limited to, anterior cruciate ligament repairs such as TTAs, hip dysplasia surgery, including FHO and TPOs, luxating patella surgery and fracture repairs.
