Our doctors believe in this so strongly that they have taken extensive training in veterinary dentistry. We have invested in equipment, including digital dental radiography, to improve our diagnostic and treatment capabilities.
Dental disease can significantly affect the health of your pet. The plaque and calculus you see on your pet’s teeth are an indication of infection. An infected mouth not only causes bad breath but may also lead to kidney, liver or heart disease, as well as cause significant pain and discomfort for your pet.
Proper dental care starts at an early age. It includes proper diet, home care such as brushing, appropriate dental chews, regular exams and a professional dental cleaning as recommended by your veterinarian.
Should your pet require advanced dental therapy, Rivertown can provide most of these services, including surgical extractions and oral surgery, fracture repair, enamel defects, endodontic or root canal therapy, and periodontal therapy. Evaluation and appropriate referrals will also be provided for those cases requiring a boarded veterinary dentist.
As with any procedure requiring anesthesia, we will take all necessary precautions to reduce risk and control pain before, during and following a dental procedure.
